Hertfordshire started the season with the bat after losing the toss and were asked to bat by Suffolk at Letchworth. A solid opening partnership of 43 from Amelia Kemp and Kezia Hassall got the side up and running. A regular flow of wickets around Gemma Marriott’s 42 left the side in a spot of bother at 109-6. Ella Phillips lead the rebuild with a mature 65 off 85 as the Moosettes finished with an above par 233.
In reply Suffolk batters struggled to build momentum as the Hertfordshire spinners put a strangle hold on the game, with Rebecca Tyson the pick of the bowlers with 3-12 off her 10 overs.
There was also a wicket for debutant Jenna-May Botha as she trapped the Suffolk batter infront of the stumps. Gemma Marriott wrapped up the lower order with Lucy Bell taking the final catch behind the stumps and concluded an 85-run victory.
Next up the Moosettes travel to Buckinghamshire on the May Day bank holiday.
